TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 The Trojans defended the TROY Softball Complex from the Chipola Indians during a midweek showdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The game started out slow, but a two-run bomb in the bottom of the third inning jump started an offensive explosion, an explosion that ended with the Trojans taking home an 18-1 win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

18 runs is noteworthy, but the Trojan defense held the Indians scoreless deep into the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I don’t care who you’re playing, four hits and one run in ten innings, that’s a strong showing,” said Head coach Eric Newell<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the moon rose and temperatures fell, the Trojan bats continued to heat up by plating a run in every inning after the third.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Pass the bat mentality,” Coach Newell explained. “Put it on the next person, put it on the next person, so excited that we’re doing that.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the game started with familiar faces such as Savannah Money<\/a> on the mound, a lot of Trojans saw game action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Break the game up into smaller games and get people lots of at bats and lots of opportunities and kind of see what they got,” Newell told TrojanVision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
