Troy University students and faculty celebrated famous figures in Black History with a “Read-In” on the John Lewis quad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The annual event held by the English department has people read passages from their favorite African-American authors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This year the event was held in the shadow of the newly renamed John Lewis Hall which according to organizers gave added significance to the “Read-in.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This year it means just a little bit more because we had the opportunity to do it on John Robert Lewis Quad,” says President of Sigma Tau Delta English Honors Society Meredith Woodfin. “Yesterday was his birthday so I think it was absolutely incredible this year, specifically, because of the historical significance we’ve brought to it.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
