TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Members of Troy University’s fraternities and sororities continued a Homecoming Week tradition with this year’s dance competition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each group in the competition was tasked choreographing and performing a dance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis event is a great way for everyone in the community to get involved,\u201d said Elijah Turman, a junior Homecoming Committee member. \u201cIt\u2019s homecoming week and everyone wants to have a good time. This is also a good opportunity for students to engage in a friendly competition.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the night, Interfraternity<\/a> and Panhellenic<\/a> members danced to a range of songs and artists. From Brittney Spears and Ariana Grande to Nelly and Usher, dancers gave it their all as members of the audience cheered for their favorite group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI really enjoyed watching the dance-off,\u201d said Olivia Giddens, a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. \u201cIt was fun getting to see other groups perform too. I know that our girls worked hard and I\u2019m very proud of the show they put on. They absolutely did amazing.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For freshman Jack Paepcke, Monday’s dance battle marked one of his first chances to represent his fraternity, Alpha Tau Omega.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI was able to grow closer to the guys in my pledge class,\u201d Paepcke said. \u201cGetting ready for all of this was a challenge, preparation was stressful, but it was worth it in the end. I felt like we performed well. The biggest thing was that we had fun doing it and that’s all it really matters.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The winner of the competition will be announced Saturday morning during the homecoming parade in Troy’s downtown square.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
