TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Troy’s music ensemble, POPulus<\/a> is preparing to released a new extended play record (EP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every year, POPulus gives Troy students the chance to have their work featured on an album. This year, six songs were selected for the band to record and release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I’m excited about this EP and this project that we are putting together,” said POPulus member Malachi Everett. “I think it will be interesting for the students and the student body to have something to look forward to and something inspirational.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One student whose work was selected is Bryson Bishop. Bishop’s song is titled “Out Alive,” and deals with the topic of struggling with mental health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s very cool. I’m very happy that they chose this song to do,” Bishop said. “It’s a very cool experience. I’m excited to watch the production and how they bring the song to life.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All the songs that POPulus<\/a> records and releases are student produced, which is what band members say makes their music unique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“What is really special about all of this is the fact is that this is driven by the students,” said POPulus EP associate producer Madison Smith. “We have undergraduate writers, we have undergraduate producers, we have undergraduate engineers, and undergraduate performers.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

POPulus plans to release its EP in the spring of 2025. POPulus’s latest project “Rose Colored Glasses” can also be found on all music streaming platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
