TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Troy University is expanding its degree offerings with the addition of a new Ph.D. program, a new Ph.D. concentration and a new master\u2019s program, the University announced Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three new degree options include a Ph.D. in Criminology, a Master of Business Administration\u2014Data Analytics and a concentration in Global Healthcare Leadership in the Global Leadership Ph.D. program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTroy University’s introduction of degree programs in health leadership, data analytics and criminology directly address the evolving workforce needs of our state,\u201d said Dr. Kerry Palmer, Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. \u201cThese strategic additions to our academic portfolio reflect our commitment to preparing graduates for high-demand careers that serve Alabama communities. By equipping our students with specialized skills in healthcare management, data-driven decision making and criminal justice, we’re investing in both their future success and the wellbeing of all Alabamians.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programs will launch in 2025 and aim to provide students with more variance in program options, said Mary Anne Templeton, Dean of the Graduate School and Associate Provost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are expanding our master’s and doctoral programs to offer more students greater opportunities to broaden their knowledge,\u201d she said. \u201cBy doing so, we aim to strengthen the workforce with highly skilled professionals who can meet the needs of businesses in high-demand sectors while also advancing research in those areas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MBA in Data Analytics<\/a> is a 30-hour curriculum that equips graduates with technical and strategic leadership skills needed in today\u2019s data-driven economy, said Sorrell College of Business Dean Dr. Judson Edwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From predictive modeling and machine learning to data visualization and statistical analysis, this STEM MBA program offers hands-on experience in interpreting and leveraging data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are excited to launch the new STEM designated MBA in Analytics,\u201d he said. \u201cThe new Analytics MBA empowers students to develop, analyze and translate data into meaningful applied business solutions. We have highly qualified faculty preparing them for professional success through engaging instruction built on data application and innovation management.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ph.D. in Criminology<\/a> is a 60-hour curriculum designed for students who wish to work in government agencies, nonprofits, community agencies or higher education. The program aims to teach candidates about the root causes of crime, how to critically evaluate theoretical perspectives and how to apply practical approaches to crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur program is designed to help students achieve their professional goals, such as teaching at higher education institutions and advancing their career,\u201d said Dr. Halil Akbas, Associate Professor and Graduate Director. \u201cThe faculty members will help students develop strong research and statistical skills, as well as theoretical knowledge. With the in-depth knowledge they gain, they will be equipped to address complex issues of crime and justice and conduct research in the area of criminology that contributes to positive change in the field.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ph.D. in Global Leadership<\/a> is a 63-hour curriculum with 45 hours dedicated to core, research and dissertation classes. After completing the core coursework, students will pursue specialized global healthcare leadership classes. Coursework for the healthcare specialization includes policy and politics in healthcare, principles of epidemiology, innovation in global leadership and a global leadership seminar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe need for leaders in global healthcare has never been more critical,\u201d said Dr. Pamela Lemoine, program contact and Professor of leadership. \u201cWith a Ph.D. in Global Leadership and a specialization in Global Healthcare Leadership, graduates will possess the advanced, in-depth knowledge and skills necessary to identify and respond to situations that challenge the infrastructure of the health care industry as well as the communities within which we live and work.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Global Healthcare Leadership and Criminology Ph.D.s are offered through TROY Online<\/a> while the Analytics MBA is offered in the flex format\u2014online and on the Troy Campus.
