TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 The Student Government Association<\/a> (SGA), Troy University Police Department<\/a> (TUPD) and Trojan Outreach<\/a> are raising awareness about safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Safety Week started last fall when the SGA partnered with TUPD in a campaign to promote the Omnilert<\/a> app. SGA then partnered with Trojan Outreach to add its drunk driving simulator to the week. Now, all three organizations come together every semester to promote safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Safety Week is something that we do every semester before Thanksgiving and before spring break,” said Trojan Outreach Peer Educator Danielle Wormsby. “Simply because we want to make sure that students are being safe as they’re traveling home and going on vacation.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout Safety Week, resources and topics are covered to ensure that Troy students stay safe over the break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This week we are covering a variety of resources and safety tips,” said SGA Chairmen of Safety and Infrastructure Jayden McQueen. “Some of our events include know the risk, know your resources, tips on alcohol abuse awareness, run-hide-fight, and then lastly just a recap of what we went through of the week.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the start of Safety Week, SGA members emailed a safety summary to all Troy students to get their opinions about campus safety precautions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We implemented our safety and infrastructure and satisfaction survey, which is the first time we’ve ever done that,” McQueen explained. “We really wanted to provide a productive outlet for students to address their safety and infrastructure concerns regarding Troy’s campus.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
