(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Over the weekend, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/people\/Troy-Pike-Habitat-for-Humanity\/100064403033559\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Troy Pike Habitat for Humanity<\/a> held a chilling fundraiser. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students jumped into the forty degree water of the Troy Parks and Recreation to support the organization&#8217;s Polar Plunge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Habitat for Humanity is a program that provides housing for low to moderate-income households. Those who are selected for the program put in &#8220;sweat equity&#8221; by building their own home as well as others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the home is not free, buyers pay a reduced price with no interest. Habitat for Humanity fundraiser Dianna Lee shared what she wanted plungers to gain from the experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I want them to understand that what they&#8217;re doing is fun, I hope,&#8221; Lee said. &#8220;It&#8217;s also for a very good cause.&#8221; Home ownership is something that is never guaranteed and for some people who are trying to get there, we can provide that conduit for them.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/2025\/02\/26\/new-app-offers-students-24-7-mental-health-services\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>MORE FROM TROJANVISION: New app offers students 24\/7 mental health services<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Burnard Thomas, a senior criminal justice major from Detroit, Michigan, shared his experience plunging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Personally, I actually love cold plunges,&#8221; Thomas told TrojanVision. &#8220;I love everything about ice baths and the therapeutic values that they bring. For me, it was awesome. I loved it.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Troy University Student Government Association (SGA) members also participated in the plunge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Take advantage of the time that you&#8217;re here at Troy to get involved with the community,&#8221; said student Jayden McQueen. &#8220;Whether it&#8217;s through an organization like Habitat for Humanity or joining a club. For example, Troy University&#8217;s Habitat for Humanity. You have been placed in this wonderful community, so why not take advantage to serve.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Habitat for Humanity&#8217;s vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. In Troy, the organization aims to build a new home every eighteen months, honoring their mission of bringing people together and building homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Within in the next six months, Troy Pike Habitat for Humanity will begin it&#8217;s twentieth build.
