TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Troy University now has a men’s volleyball club after the team was created earlier this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOverall, it\u2019s really good,\u201d said head coach Brandon Przywara. \u201cWe have a lot of athletic guys that are familiar with the sport. It\u2019s going really well, since I\u2019ve seen a lot of improvement in the two or three weeks that we have been doing this. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A lot of guys have been familiarizing themselves with the terminology and the cadence of the game. We are really just starting to pick up the speed with what, hopefully, we are going to play at.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most of the players on the team already had an interest in this sport before signing up and would play volleyball on a regular basis. Practices are on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday nights inside Elm Street Gym.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s an opportunity to do something different and not just play around for fun,\u201d said player Deerlyn Guzman-Lopez. \u201cIt\u2019s more competitive and has a competitive aspect to it. It gives you more to think about and it matters more now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team is already set to compete in its first tournament of the season. Although players are looking for a victory, they mostly want to use this tournament as a learning experience.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor a lot of them that haven\u2019t played competitively before, they really don\u2019t know what they are in for just yet,\u201d Przywara explained. \u201cIt\u2019s going to come with a lot of growing pains and a lot of guys are going to get frustrated, but that\u2019s okay. It\u2019s really giving them the freedom to go out there and to play with what they are now learning. It also gives them the freedom to now do it to the best of their ability.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first tournament will be at University of North Georgia, where Emory University Men’s Club Volleyball will be one of the teams that the Trojans play against.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
