TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 The Trojan softball<\/a> team had its back against the wall entering game three of their last home series of the regular season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After suffering a 12-3 defeat in game two, the Trojans seed in the conference tournament depended on their showing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite a rough second game, Troy secured a 12-2 run rule victory in five innings over the Jaguars, stamping the legacy of their seniors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The reality that some of these girls are playing their last regular season game on this field, I think the reassuring feeling is that we get to come back and play next week on this field,” said head coach Eric Newell<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The victory came from a combined effort on the offensive effort on the offensive and defensive ends. Senior Taylor McKinney<\/a> blasted five RBI’s including two on an inside the park home run. Freshman Mya Holt<\/a> pitched a complete game from the circle, letting up two earned runs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“That’s the team we to see in the playoffs because that was the team that was fired up and ready to win this series against South Alabama,” said Newell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not only did the series win secure the Trojans first series victory of the Jaguars since 2022, game three’s win served as number 100 for head coach Eric Newell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Good players really make coaches job easy and we’ve got some good players this year, and we’ve had some good players in my first three years here at Troy,” Newell said. “To get 100 in the three years, that’s fantastic.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
