TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 For many Troy residents, the city of Troy’s Fourth of July fireworks show isa tradition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I’m fixing to soon be 45 years old,” said Troy resident, James Shirley. “So, I’ve been doing this quite a while.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I’ve probably been about five or six years,” said fellow Troy resident, Dorthea Dow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They are not alone. For the past 45 years, thousands of people have gathered at Veterans Memorial Stadium for the annual fireworks show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We do this every year here in Troy, at Troy University, and I always enjoy it,” Shirley added. “As a citizen, I love it.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event is a celebration of the United Stated becoming an independent nation. It is also a way to bring the community together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We all get to be together and enjoy the Fourth of July,” Dow said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I think Troy’s a great place and I think this is a wonderful thing for everyone to have a chance to do,” Shirley said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year’s show featured 20 minutes of approximately 10,000 fireworks and patriotic music meant to demonstrate a love for the country and all who call it home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
