(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 With Alabama&#8217;s tax free weekend coming up, it is important to know what is and is not eligible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Alabama Department of Revenue, the back-to-school sales tax holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. on the third Friday in July and lasts through midnight the following Sunday. A list of participating counties can be found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.revenue.alabama.gov\/sales-use\/sales-tax-holidays\/alabama-back-to-school-sales-tax-holiday-participating-localities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ADPR website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sales tax holiday is a way to aid families in purchasing school supplies and clothes for their children before the beginning of the school year. While state sales tax is waived for the weekend, local sales tax may still apply. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clothing items (under $100 each) are eligible for purchase without tax, however, clothing accessories (i.e. watches, wallets, jewelry) and sporting and recreational equipment (i.e. mouth guards, gloves, band instruments) are not included. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Along with clothes, school and art supplies (under $50 each) such as writing utensils, notebooks, sketch pads and paint are eligible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A full list of eligible items is available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.revenue.alabama.gov\/ultraviewer\/viewer\/basic_viewer\/index.html?form=2025\/05\/2025-Back-to-School-Sales-Tax-Holiday.pdf\">ADPR website<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TROY, Ala.
