TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Troy Public Radio<\/a> (TPR) host Carolyn Hutcheson is being recognized with a prestigious award.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hutcheson is now the proud recipient of one of the highest honors a broadcaster can receive. The Best Public Affairs Program is awarded by the Alabama Broadcasters Association<\/a>.\u00a0Hutcheson is now the latest Alabama broadcaster to win it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hutcheson says the award isn\u2019t just about her but gives credit to her guests and listeners \u201cThis award means I have great guests,\u201d Hutcheson said. \u201cI\u2019m able to follow my curiosity into a lot of avenues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m always thinking about the listeners. They\u2019re facing an economy that\u2019s uncertain along with many other uncertainties.\u00a0I like to program for my listeners to help them. I also like to explore the arts. We\u2019ve been able to do that under the public affairs umbrella.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although Hutcheson is unwilling to take the credit, TPR Director, Kyle Gassiott says he owes his start at TPR to her. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs somebody who represents Troy Public Radio, there\u2019s nobody better,\u201d Gassiott said. \u201cShe\u2019s part of the reason I joined Troy Public Radio because she interviewed me when I moved to the area.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hutcheson\u2019s colleagues like TPR Host, Ann Kenda, also believe that she has earned the recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI’m really excited for her because she really deserves this honor,\u201d Kenda said. \u201cShe’s on the air every day with an interesting topic, so I think the Alabama Broadcasters Association really saw how valuable her work is.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hutcheson says she\u2019s learned to pursue her curiosity and wants her listeners to do the same.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI hope that my listeners are learning along with me,\u201d Hutcheson said. \u201cTo me, it\u2019s all about education and I hope that my listeners are being educated.\u00a0Troy University is about education; I consider my program\u00a0an educational type of program. So, to me, it all goes together.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This isn\u2019t the first time Hutcheson’s program has received an award. Her program has also won awards from the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Department of Public Safety.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
