(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 A teenager is behind bars after being connected to a shooting that happened on Troy University&#8217;s campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.troy.edu\/student-life-resources\/student-resources\/campus-safety\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Troy University Police Department<\/a> (TUPD) has charged a teenage boy from Troy with second degree assault and unlawful possession of a firearm. The suspect is believed to have fired the shot that injured a female student. The student sustained a foot injury, was treated, and has since been released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The shooting took place at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30. According to police, the suspect was arrested Friday morning by officers with TUPD, the Troy Police Department and the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/2025\/09\/04\/bystander-describes-saturday-night-shooting-outside-of-veterans-memorial-stadium\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>ORIGINAL COVERAGE: Bystander describes Saturday night shooting outside of Veterans Memorial Stadium<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The arrest was the result of a joint investigation between the University and City police departments. Troy University Police Chief George Beaudry credited the partnership between the agencies as a key factor in the quick resolution of the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe local knowledge and years of experience of the Troy Police Department team tipped the scales in our favor and helped us identify a suspect,\u201d Beaudry said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At last report, the suspect, whose identity has not been released, is being held at the Pike County Jail.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TROY, Ala.
