TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 The long-awaited Conecuh Ridge Distillery in Troy is finally nearing its grand opening.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After years of planning and construction, the new Conecuh Ridge Distillery, home of Clyde May\u2019s Whiskey<\/a>, is on track to become a major addition to Troy\u2019s tourism landscape. L.C. May, the grandson of Clyde May and sales manager for Clyde May\u2019s Whiskey, says the long construction process is worth the wait.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRome wasn\u2019t built in a day,\u201d May said. \u201cPatience is virtue.\u00a0We made a commitment to the city of Troy and to the state of Alabama when we started this project.\u00a0From the start, we wanted this facility to be\u00a0a spectacle.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not going to be like anything else in the state of Alabama. It\u2019s going to be something that the whole state of Alabama can be proud of.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the biggest milestones for the distillery was the installation of the giant 30-foot still. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor me, this is a red-letter day,\u201d said SVP Commercial Strategist David Ballew. \u201cWhen a still gets dropped in, it makes everything seem real.\u00a0It\u2019s the focal point of a distillery, from a beauty standpoint. It\u2019s the kind of thing that people want to see.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The still’s installation required major precision as the piece was lowered into the Distillery’s Still House through the roof via crane and a 4′ x 11′ opening with an approximate six-inch clearance on each side. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conecuh Ridge will not only bottle and distill; the facility\u00a0also aims to be a tourism hub with a restaurant, cocktail bar, and even a space for live performances.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

May believes his grandfather would be proud of the distillery’s chance to positively impact the local area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“He was big on doing whatever it took to provide for his family and\u00a0community.\u00a0I think he\u2019d be very proud of that. He\u2019d be proud of not only the legacy of his whisky making, but the legacy of the values he stood by.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was all about being a man of your word and working hard.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

May expects the distillery to be open to the public by early 2026. The Distillery is located at 248 Clyde May Way in Troy, off Trojan Way.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
