TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Over the weekend, people across Pike County celebrated the Troy Trojans’ win over rival South Alabama, but an afterparty soon took a deadly turn. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas<\/a>, authorities responded to a 911 call at Hideaway Events early Sunday morning. The business is located along County Road 7755. When deputies arrived, they found a dead body by the door. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nick Wright, a Troy student who had been to Hideaway before, was at the party when shots were fired.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI heard two or three shots ring out inside of the party,\u201d Wright said. \u201cEverybody ran outside and I ran to my car that was parked right by the woods. Fifteen minutes later, after the police had cleared everyone, I left.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an article published<\/a> by the Troy Messenger, Thomas said the sheriff’s office had been worried about Hideaway Events for some time. Thomas also said the establishment\u00a0did not have a\u00a0business license or liquor license.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Soon after, the owners of Hideaway Events weighed in on Thomas’ comments. In a post, the owners said Thomas\u2019 words were \u201ccarefully chosen to discredit their business.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TrojanVision reached out to both Thomas and Hideaway Events for their sides of the story, but the owners declined saying Thomas\u2019s comments achieved his \u201cintended purposes,” while the sheriff was said to be out of town for the next few days. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Wright says the shooting has changed his mind about going to parties.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt makes me think twice about going out,\u201d Wright told TrojanVision. \u201cIt makes me more aware of my surroundings. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At last report, the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are asking anyone with information to call (334) 566-4347.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
