TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 TROY’s Student Government Association<\/a> (SGA) says it is trying to address concerns coming from some of TROY’s on-campus residents. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Student Government Association\u00a0(SGA) held a\u00a0housing\u00a0town hall in the Trojan Center\u00a0lounge\u00a0this past Thursday.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students and\u00a0senators from the east and west housing districts met with Assistant\u00a0Director of Housing<\/a> Sabrina Foster to discuss problems\u00a0residents deal with.\u00a0Foster was unavailable for an interview, but McKinley Watford, a senator for the\u00a0west\u00a0housing\u00a0district,\u00a0addressed one of the most common problems that residents run into.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe talked about roommate problems and how they are consistently an issue,\u201d Watford said. \u201cSometimes people room with friends from high school that they\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0anticipate\u00a0problems with.\u00a0One of\u00a0the things we want to stress is\u00a0to make\u00a0sure you pick your roommates wisely. R<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Consider those things before you plan accordingly.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tremayne Chapmain is a senator for the east housing district. He lives in Newman 100 and has had a hole in his floor for months.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy friends keep joking that I\u2019m going to fall through the floor,\u201d Chapmain said. \u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0only getting bigger.\u00a0Ms. Foster\u00a0told me to put in a work order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“She told me\u00a0maintenance\u00a0would get back to me within a month. My order will take longer because they\u00a0will\u00a0have to pull the carpet\u00a0back\u00a0and\u00a0fix\u00a0the flooring.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Watford said students can expect more housing town halls in the future; she also urges residents to express their thoughts and concerns.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou cannot meet an expectation that is not expressed,\u201d said Watford. \u201cIf you\u2019re able to communicate what people are having problems with, we can take that to housing to make them aware of the issue so that they can solve it instead of people just complaining about it and nothing being done. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
