(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Protestors marched in the streets of Alabama&#8217;s capital Saturday with one message: no kings in America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Montgomery No Kings protest was one of thousands that occurred across the nation. Participants protested against the Trump administration and what many believed is king-like behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nokings.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">No Kings<\/a> itself is we don&#8217;t want a king, we don&#8217;t want the silly little oligarchy that&#8217;s going on,&#8221; said Haley Morgan, a Troy student and speaker at the event. &#8220;But also, we want to bring our community together to know that we&#8217;re not alone, we can work together to make change, and there are people actively working to make change.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Protesters brought flags, signs, and costumes to the event with the message of unity against the Trump administration. However supporters of Trump disagree with protesters&#8217; message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/2025\/10\/07\/troy-university-libraries-help-students-understand-first-amendment-rights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>TOP STORIES: Troy University Libraries help students understand First Amendment rights<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I find the message of the protests to be misplaced,&#8221; said Caitlyn Harris, president of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/tpusatroy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Turning Point USA at Troy University<\/a>. &#8220;It&#8217;s ironic to accuse President Trump of acting like a &#8216;king&#8217; when his actions have consistently shown leadership focused on service to the American people, not power.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Montgomery protest organizers, over 700 participants were estimated to have attended, but say the real number is expected to be higher. Many participants said they see the protests as a way to share their message against an overreaching leadership as well as expand the movement in the Wiregrass area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I think it lets them know that there are people who are against what&#8217;s happening and speaking truth to power,&#8221; said Scott Johnson, a protestor. &#8220;I think it&#8217;s important for everyone to see that and hopefully people will start to see what&#8217;s in front of all of our eyes right now, that&#8217;s going on in this country.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to No Kings, over 7 million protesters came out to events across the nation and in cities internationally.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MONTGOMERY, Ala.
