(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Trojan Outreach is providing resources for students in an effort to end intimate partner violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehotline.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Domestic Violence Hotline<\/a>, over one in three women and one in four men in the United States have experienced domestic violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It has also been reported by the National Domestic Violence hotline that 38% of college students say they don\u2019t know how to get help if they are the victim of domestic abuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s why <a href=\"https:\/\/www.troy.edu\/student-life-resources\/student-resources\/outreach-intervention\/trojan-outreach.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Trojan Outreach<\/a> provided several resources in the case of an abusive relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere is a Domestic Violence hotline that you can contact,&#8221; said Peer Educator Sadie Tyson. &#8220;We have all that information here; it\u2019s online also. There\u2019s also a sexual assault hotline if you need that, and then if you\u2019re in imminent danger, contact 911.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/2025\/10\/21\/colleges-against-cancer-group-returns-to-troy-university\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>MORE: Colleges Against Cancer group returns to Troy University<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peer educators also underscored the importance of speaking up if someone is in an abusive relationship. Members gave out buttons that say \u201cBreak the Silence, Stop the Violence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We do want people to know that domestic violence is more common than people think, and it&#8217;s not always apparent to everybody,&#8221; said Tyson. &#8220;So if you do need help, do not fear to reach out.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trojan Outreach hopes to reassure victims of domestic violence that they are not alone and that reaching out for help could be life-saving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, contact the Domestic Violence Hotline at (800) 799-7233 or Trojan Outreach at (334) 808-6806. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TROY, Ala.
