(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Troy University&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/troy.chiomega.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chi Omega<\/a> sorority worked to raise money and awareness during its Wish Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is our wish week, Chi Omega&#8217;s philanthropy week,&#8221; said Zara Smith, the philanthropy chair for Chi Omega. &#8220;We raise money for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chiomega.com\/makeawish\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Make-A-Wish<\/a> Alabama to grant wishes to kids with chronic illnesses.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One popular fundraiser was the Cake-A-Chi-O, where people pay to eat a cupcake or cake one of the sisters. Although the event was messy, members say the cause is worth the mess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI absolutely love our philanthropy and hope that everyone has the chance to not only do hands-on experience with Make-A-Wish, but also just get to experience the magic in raising money for these wishes for these kids because they are so deserving,\u201d said Smith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/2025\/10\/22\/trojan-outreach-raises-awareness-for-domestic-violence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>NEWS FOR YOU: Trojan Outreach raises awareness for domestic violence<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With Cake-A-Chi-O now over, the sorority then turned its attention to its next fundraising events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMonday, we did stretches for wishes, which was a yoga-Pilates class on our front lawn,&#8221; Smith said. &#8220;Then, on Wednesday, we have our big event, our cookout, which is from 5-7 on sorority hill right in front of the Chi Omega house. It is going to be a huge cookout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;There are going to be hot dogs, a ton of sides and a chance for a lot of donations to be brought in. They can also buy raffle tickets, which will help with donations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Make a Wish Alabama, the Troy chapter of Chi Omega raised nearly $18,000 during its Spring Wish Week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TROY, Ala.
