TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 During the Student Government Association<\/a>‘s (SGA) Safety Week, the safety and infrastructure committee had its Hide and Shriek event on the John Robert Lewis Quad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event gave students a chance to have fun while learning the Troy University Police Department<\/a>‘s Run, Hide, Fight campaign by having students hide from TUPD’s finest for a Moe’s Meal Voucher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In SGA, we have a safety and infrastructure committee and the whole point of this event is to help support the police department in their run, hide, fight with bringing awareness in case of emergencies on campus on how to run, how to hide, and how to fight,” said Ariel Pratt, delegate for SGA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students strategized hiding spots that they thought would fool the four TUPD officers, and although some students successfully evaded TUPD, others were not so lucky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I was found really fast,” said Jeremy Robinson, a student who participated in the game. “I spent so much time helping other people find their spots and then I finally got to my spot, and like 20 seconds later I was caught. There’s not much on the campus, so what better than hide from the cops.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although this event was meant to be fun and games, the overarching goal was for students to learn what to do in the event of a mass attack.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“You run from one place to find somewhere safe to be. you hide so you find someplace to hide and yeah, that’s what the event was able to do,” Pratt said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was the second to last event for the committee for Safety Week, with Pink Out the Fright closing it out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
