(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Troy University&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.troy.edu\/academics\/colleges-schools\/college-science-engineering\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">College of Science and Engineering <\/a>is recognizing its new partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/escc.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Enterprise State Community College<\/a>\u00a0(ESCC).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thursday, the two schools participated in a signing ceremony that marked the beginning of the new agreement. The agreement will allow ESCC mechatronics students to transfer into Troy\u2019s Electrical and Electronics Engineering program.\u00a0ESCC President Danny Long\u00a0said the agreement is a milestone for his institution.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s awfully rewarding, but ultimately what it means is more opportunities for our students,\u201d&nbsp;Long said. \u201cWhen you sign an articulation agreement with a university like Troy, it validates the work and effort we\u2019ve put into making this a rigorous program.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Troy will now accept credits that\u00a0are not typically transferable when students leave community college and enter a four-year university.\u00a0Several technical\u00a0courses\u00a0including circuit analysis, digital\u00a0electronics\u00a0and solid-state electronics will transfer directly into Troy\u2019s engineering curriculum.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aubri Hanson, a mechatronics instructor at ESCC,&nbsp;said the agreement benefits&nbsp;students&nbsp;in the Wiregrass region.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis new agreement offers a pathway for students to attend a four-year university, but&nbsp;still be&nbsp;close to home,\u201d Hanson said. \u201cWe have partnerships with other universities, but&nbsp;they&#8217;re&nbsp;farther away.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSometimes that&nbsp;requires&nbsp;students to move and sometimes&nbsp;that\u2019s&nbsp;more expensive. This allows our&nbsp;students&nbsp;to stay close to their&nbsp;friends and their families but still have&nbsp;access&nbsp;to&nbsp;a&nbsp;high-level&nbsp;education.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/2026\/02\/20\/troy-regional-medical-center-unveils-new-logo-designed-by-troy-alumni\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>MORE TOP STORIES: Troy Regional Medical Center unveils new logo designed by Troy alumni<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the agreement is between ESCC and Troy, Troy University Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr.&nbsp;explained&nbsp;how he thinks&nbsp;the&nbsp;agreement could&nbsp;impact&nbsp;the entire&nbsp;state&nbsp;long-term.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOne thing we do know is&nbsp;many&nbsp;graduates that matriculate to two-year colleges through Troy University&nbsp;choose to stay in this part of Alabama,\u201d Hawkins said. \u201cWe believe that this&nbsp;agreement is just another way that we can meet the growing needs of engineering.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve&nbsp;become&nbsp;the Detroit&nbsp;of&nbsp;the south.&nbsp;Engineering is important in&nbsp;our&nbsp;growing department of defense industry,&nbsp;medical&nbsp;needs&nbsp;and&nbsp;other&nbsp;STEM&nbsp;related areas.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe believe that by growing new, high-quality programs at Troy that prepare graduates for the workforce, we will make an important contribution to both the quality of life and the economic development of Alabama.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chief academic officers from Troy and&nbsp;ESCC&nbsp;will review the partnership every two years. If either school chooses to end the agreement, students&nbsp;enrolled&nbsp;in the program will still have time to complete their degree.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TROY, Ala.
