TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Over the weekend Troy baseball<\/a> took back the series from Campbell after an unprecedented split double header.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Trojans started the morning poorly, with the pitching game putting Troy at a disadvantage. The performance let the Campbell Camels put up seven runs at the top of the fourth inning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Its not our standard, its not how we play baseball in any level. Not executing pitches, and plus counts. You shouldn’t give up that many [points],” said Skylar Meade<\/a>, head coach of the Troy’s Baseball team. “The wind’s blowing out at a zillion, but the fact that you go nine and two, strike the walk, and you give up the hit, it means your throwing pitches that don’t have the right ‘umph’ and conviction”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Trojans would finish that game with a loss of 1-13. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

45 minutes later, game two would start and Troy would come out taking the first punch, scoring three in the bottom of the first inning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We started the game on our right foot,” said Blake Cavill<\/a>, first basemen for the Trojans. “Started early and everything started clicking, and defense hitting one through nine, one through 10, whoever came off the bench.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The pitchers no big innings during the first game, started the second one, and Alonso was truly incredible out of the bullpen.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And incredible he was, as Dylan Alonso<\/a> pitched six consecutive shutout frames. In that time, Troy would tie it up at the bottom of the second after Campbell put up four runs. In the bottom of the third, senior infielder Josh Pyne<\/a> would slam his first homer for the trojans, putting Troy up seven to four.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s been incredible,” Pyne said. “Troy has been an awesome place. Troy has accepted me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In the town, on the team, and hitting that homer, it was just surreal and it’s just been great.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
