TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Students from several campus organizations worked together to present a unified front during Black History Month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Often,\u00a0you\u00a0will\u00a0see students walking\u00a0around campus\u00a0to go\u00a0to class\u00a0or to\u00a0their dorms. However, on Wednesday night,\u00a0several students\u00a0and\u00a0organizations walked\u00a0around campus\u00a0for a\u00a0different\u00a0reason.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The third annual Walk for Unity is where several Troy organizations came together to create an event for unity in a time full of division.\u00a0Step by step,\u00a0members\u00a0of Troy University’s 101 Elite Men<\/a>, Black Student Union<\/a>, Student Government Association<\/a> and Delta Sigma Theta<\/a> marched across Troy’s campus in\u00a0a unified show\u00a0of support for Black History Month.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I feel like us in small town Troy doing this, I think it speaks so much volume, said Jane Osayamwen, the Social Action Committee chair of Delta Sigma Theta. “It shows that even though we are a small town, we care, we see and we hear about everything that is going on, and we want our input. We want the world to know that we would like everybody to be united.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaker Dr. Dionne Rosser-Mims<\/a> led part of the night and urged students to continue promoting what she calls the global village. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I really believe in the human spirit. I believe in our future talent, and I have the utmost belief that our student leaders will make sure our democracy, our global village, remains intact,” said Dr. Rosser-Mims. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Unity Walk comes in the middle of For the Culture Week, a time where students are encouraged to recognize\u00a0all\u00a0the contributions black people have made across the country and world.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
