(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Sigma Chi brothers traded their textbooks for 10-gallon hats during its Inaugural Philanthropy Rodeo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/troysigmachi\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sigma Chi<\/a>\u2019s first-ever rodeo brought the community together for two nights of high-energy competition. Held at the Pike County Cattlemen&#8217;s Association arena, the event featured everything from bareback riding and steer wrestling, to team roping and barrel racing, all presented by Bo Campbell Rodeo Productions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But behind the boots and buckles, there was a bigger cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dWe actually did raise $55,000 this year,\u201d said Reagan Robinette, the Sigma Chi philanthropy chairman. \u201cThe money is going towards Troy Health and Rehabilitation, which we chose about two years ago to keep our philanthropy here in the community of Troy and kind of see what it does for us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We want to see the changes we are making with the money we are raising.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those $55,000 will remain local as the event aimed to keep the impact close to campus, and close to home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/2026\/03\/02\/alpha-omicron-pi-hosts-shop-out-arthritis-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>MORE FOR YOU: Alpha Omicron Pi hosts Shop Out Arthritis<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dIt\u2019s really important that you do things that will get the community involved so you can raise money, because your end goal is to raise money to fight for a better cause, so what better way to do it than a rodeo,\u201d said audience member Elle Caroline Blackmon. \u201cThis is something you don\u2019t get to experience a lot, and I haven\u2019t been to a rodeo since I was little, so I was like I&#8217;m definitely going to be there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Judging by the packed stands, vendor trucks, and families filling the arena, the rodeo did just that. For the professional riders, the weekend wasn\u2019t just another stop, it was a chance to do something meaningful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dIf you\u2019re going to do something, do it and be good at it, be the best at it and go all in,\u201d said professional bronc and bull rider Randy Sambles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sigma Chi says that is exactly what it did. From securing sponsors to selling tickets, this event compiled months of preparation into two nights of adrenaline and generosity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sigma Chi brothers hope to make the philanthropy rodeo an annual tradition at Troy University, continuing to grow both the event and its impact on the community.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TROY, Ala.
