TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Hundreds of high school students and their families visited Troy\u2019s campus Saturday for Spring Trojan Day \u2014 the university\u2019s preview day for potential\u00a0students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead of hosting the browse session inside Trojan Arena, the university moved it outdoors to the\u00a0main\u00a0quad.\u00a0Senior Director of Enrollment Services\u00a0Gus\u00a0McKenzie said\u00a0the\u00a0change\u00a0created\u00a0a more relaxed environment for students and families.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Our campus is\u00a0beautiful,\u00a0and we want people to see that beauty,” McKenzie said. “This also allows for conversation that\u00a0doesn\u2019t\u00a0have to be quite as loud when\u00a0we\u2019re\u00a0in Trojan Arena.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ethan Mendenhall\u00a0is a senior from Blue Mountain, Illinois.\u00a0He said\u00a0wants to pursue a career in\u00a0accounting\u00a0and\u00a0was impressed by the\u00a0Sorrell\u00a0College of Business<\/a>‘\u00a0table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We saw they [the Sorell College of Business\u2019s table] had one of the higher ranked business colleges,” Mendenhall said. “I\u2019m looking to go into auditing and accounting, which is very relevant to my interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Overall, they seem more organized and welcoming than the 12 other colleges I applied to. That\u2019s a major indicator that this will be an overall better experience.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

McKenzie also said the University is introducing new ways for admitted students to connect before arriving on campus. One of those tools is the app\u00a0“ZeeMee<\/a>.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“ZeeMee\u00a0is\u00a0a\u00a0place\u00a0for current and incoming students to\u00a0connect with each\u00a0other,” McKenzie said.\u00a0“It\u2019s\u00a0set up a lot like Discord where there are different chat channels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“There\u2019s an admitted students channel and there’s also a roommate channel. It\u2019s a way for students to connect with each other, and the relationships we value here at Troy can begin at a much earlier stage.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
