(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 While the war with the Middle East may seem far away, it is affecting locals at the gas pumps in Troy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Local gas stations are seeing prices upwards of $3.74 a gallon for regular unleaded. The increased price is putting an extended financial burden on some drivers in the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe gas prices are outrageous right now,&#8221; said Jarod McDowell, a traveler from Wetumpka, Alabama. \u201cThey are too high. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/2026\/04\/01\/troy-alumna-works-to-grow-photography-business\/'\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>KEEPING IT LOCAL: Troy alumna works to grow photography business as competition increases<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We need to bring these gas prices down\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Drivers are not only spending more money on gas, they are also having to fill up often.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThey are extremely high,\u201d said Latasha Vaughn, a Troy local. \u201cIt took me $100 to fill up my tank today so I\u2019m praying that they come down pretty soon.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thanks to the higher prices, some drivers are managing their budgets differently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI like to eat out everyday,\u201d said Javontrez Allen, a Troy local. \u201cI can\u2019t eat out like how I want to cause I have to put gas in my car everyday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;That&#8217;s messing me up right there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gas prices have still been on the rise and will continue to be until an agreement is made in the Middle East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gasprices.aaa.com\/?state=AL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>FOR YOU: See what the average gas prices are around Alabama<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Community members can usually find the lowest gas prices at the Murphy station beside Walmart.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TROY, Ala.
