The Talk of TROY – ”Juneteenth at the Museum & ’It Came from the Archives’” – June 17th, 2022

Troy University’s Rosa Parks Museum in Montgomery is celebrating Juneteenth, an annual recognition of the end of slavery in the United States. And although Juneteenth is usually on June 19th, the Museum is celebrating early, something they have been doing for a while as Kameron Banks reports.
And, as Host Jared McBride tells us, the Wiregrass Archives is a collection preserving history from the Wiregrass Region. And now, it has its own podcast, “It Came from the Archives.”

The Talk of TROY – ”President Biden’s Visit to Troy, Alabama & The New Director of the Hall School of Journalism and Communication” – June 10th, 2022

President Joe Biden recently visited Troy and the Lockheed Martin facility, which manufactures weapons for the war in Ukraine. Two Troy University students reported on the presidential visit for Trojanvision news and the campus newspaper. Producer Kameron Banks asked them what it was like to be in the press pool.
And, Professor Robbyn Taylor has served Troy’s Hall School of Journalism and Communication in a variety of roles over the years, and now, she’s becoming its director. Host Jared McBride has the story.

The Talk of TROY – ”National Poetry Month” – April 29th, 2022

Just in time for National Poetry Month, Troy University’s English Department and the honor society Sigma Tau Delta have hosted a poetry reading, where everyone is invited to participate. Troy Public Radio’s Adam Kennedy II read a poem and also reports!
And, TROY students aren’t the only ones celebrating National Poetry Month. As producer Conner Howell reports, a member of the University Administration won an award in a state-wide competition and was featured in a program that aired on Alabama Public Television.

The Talk of TROY – ”Cook Your Way & Family Math Night” – March 25th, 2022

This week, Troy University is hosting its own version of the popular Food Network show, Chopped. But this time, it’s groups of faculty and staff who are given the mystery ingredients.
And, Troy University presents Family Math Night! Parents can participate to be more informed on what their children are learning, which includes new ways to do math.
