The Talk of Troy is voices and sounds from the campuses of Troy University. Each week we bring you sound rich stories and fresh ideas from the heart of the Trojan community.
Troy University’s Rosa Parks Museum in Montgomery is offering visitors a chance to meet Civil Rights Icon Rosa Parks. Or as Producer Conner Howell reports, a very convincing portrayal of Parks.
And, Campus Kitchens, a national initiative to repurpose dining food to feed the hungry, dissolved in 2019. But, Troy University’s office of civic engagement, which partnered previously with Campus Kitchens, is working to continue their mission in the Troy area. And as Garrett Sanders reports, students are still a vital part of distributing the meals.
Ms. Troy University 2022 has been crowned! But it’s not all glitz and glamour. Being pageant queen comes with important duties as well, as Producer Jaelanne Thomas reports.

The Rosa Parks Museum on TROY’s Montgomery campus is featuring a new exhibit, “Watchfires”. And as Producer Garrett Sanders reports, it includes paintings and found objects commenting on social justice issues that are still relevant today.
And, Producer Jaelanne Thomas reports TROY Archaeology Professor Stephen Carmody’s team uncovered many interesting things in a harbor town in Northern Tuscany.
Alabama Governor Kay Ivey has signed a proclamation commending TROY for leadership in international education. Producer Cody Skelton reports that the international program at Troy works hard to make students feel at home.
And as Host Marissa Lacey reports, Troy University Alumnus Terrence Adams has risen to the rank of Air Force Brigadier General after 27 years of service.
This week, as Producer Conner Howell reports, Dothan, Alabama’s Police Department just got its first female police captain… and she’s a TROY graduate!
And, as Host Marissa Lacey tells us, at an entrance to the main campus, visitors now see a big, bold power T painted on a busy intersection right next door to Veterans Memorial Stadium.
