“The First Graduate Weather Officer & Reopening the Economy” – March 19th, 2021
The Talk of Troy is voices and sounds from the campuses of Troy University. Each week we bring you sound rich stories and fresh ideas from the heart of the Trojan community.
Troy University’s English department is co-sponsoring an African American literature read-in in front of John Robert Lewis Hall.
And, last year, we talked with a Troy University student about how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected her local business. Now, she’s a graduate, and we check back in to see how her café is performing.
A Troy University professor is part of a two-person team that created an Alabama literacy project with the mascot, Short the Squirrel. And it’s gotten a lot of attention, even from Alabama Governor Kay Ivey.
And, the show must go on, as Troy University’s Department of Theatre and Dance is hosting a virtual performance of “Art in Motion.”
Troy University’s Ph.D. in Sport Management has been recognized as one of the top ten in the nation by Best Value Schools. And Trojan Outreach is providing presentations about the importance of sexual health awareness for students.
The Sport Management Ph.D. and Sexual Health Awareness are this week’s Talk of TROY!
TROY Public Radio Producer Maya Martin sits down with TROY Professor Kate Price-Howard, the newest recipient of the Resort and Commercial Recreation Association’s Excellence in Research Award.
And, Host Marissa Lacey brings us one of our favorite stories from last year about the ongoing Alice in Wonderland art exhibit in the International Art Center.
Producer Baylen Parker reports that Troy University has started a fundraiser to name the football stadium’s home radio booth in honor of Sportscaster Ralph Black, who was known as The Voice of TROY for 26 years. And, Producer Maya Martin sits down with Alabama’s superintendent of the year and TROY alumnus, Chresal Threadgill.
This is one of our favorite Talk of Troy episodes brought to you while we’re on a short production break: Host Marissa Lacey reflects on Troy University First Lady Janice Hawkins’s efforts to beautify the campus and expand Alabama’s recognition of international arts. And, we sit down with TROY Music Industry Alumnus Josh McInnish, who doesn’t let his visual impairment stand in the way of his job as a piano player for the Titanic Museum Attraction in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
