TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Summer can be quite hot, yet, thanks to Welcome Week, students got to have some cool fun under the sun at Waterville.
After two weeks filled with events, Welcome Week came to an end with a big splash with a waterpark right in front of Rushing Hall. The waterpark allowed students to have last-minute fun in the sun, but that was not all it had in store.
“It’s the community!” Preston Smith, a new freshman to TROY, said. “It’s free fun, free food, free people. I’ve been able to meet so many different people in the past few days, it’s like I never even had a life until I came to TROY. It’s like a utopia right here at TROY!”

“I love meeting new people!” said student Austin Gamble. “I came from a small town where there were not a lot of people to meet. You come up here and there is thousands of people. Everyday you get to see a new face and it’s great to get to know those faces too.”
With Welcome Week now at an end, one committee member hopes students they have a home away from home.
“I hope that they know that they are not alone,” said Welcome Week Committee member Rheanna Hutto. “There is a lot of people that actually want to be friends and have a good college career. At the end of your four years, these will be there people that may be with you after college maybe even friends forever. We just want to make it as easy on them as possible to come out and make friends.”
Waterville marked Welcome Week’s last activity for Fall 2024.
