TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Troy University announced they are lowering the cost of dual enrollment classes for high school students beginning in January of 2025.
The announcement was made at the Counselors Day Luncheon which welcomed high school counselors from all over Alabama.
“We have been requested so often in the past to expand our online programming to include high school students through dual enrollment,” said Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor of Troy University. “A critical decision has been reached to do that. A typical three hour course would cost the average student almost $1300. We’re going to make that course available to high school students for $100.”

The price will drop from $145 to $33 dollars per credit hour. The price decrease will apply to students who qualify for in-state tuition as well as students from select counties in Florida and Georgia. Hawkins believes the price drop will increase the number of dual enrollment students at Troy.
“We currently enroll almost 300 dual enrollment students. We think by the fall that could triple, and from there we think it will continue to grow.”
Hawkins also hopes dual enrollment students will come to Troy for their college experience.
“I think that if we create that pathway that many students in high schools will learn about troy and will find out what we already know. We believe that pathway will lead many of those students to decide to study with us either on campus or online.”
