Tailgating returns for 2025 Trojan football season

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — With football making its return to Veterans Memorial Stadium so does tailgating, which has brought back plenty of excitement for fans.

“It’s all about community and Trojan pride honestly,” said Seth Walker, student worker at the tailgate. “I can walk up to anybody in the tent and I’ll have the same spirit and enthusiasm about watching our team play and win.”

For many fans, tailgates and football are a staple in our community, but not so much for international students.

“I’m working with Freshman Forum at the international tailgate, giving international students who aren’t really from America to be able to have that Trojan pride and to be able to tailgate to really serve them to give them the best college game day experience,” Walker explained.

For most of the international students, the game against Nicholls was the first time they experienced any kind of tailgate or American football.

“[It’s the] first time that I will see a football game in America so that I’m really excited like I don’t know what’s really going to be the vibe,” aid Noah, a French international student. “There is a good community, there is a good vibe. I can see that all the people talking about that [the game] they walk in the Troy university and the campus, everyone is like a group so it’s good to see that.”

After the tailgate, the Trojans would go on to win against Nicholls 38-20, scoring four touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
