TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Turning Point USA (TPUSA) at Troy held a prayer service for Charlie Kirk in the Trojan Center Ballrooms.
Students, faculty, and members of the Pike County community gathered to honor the TPUSA founder. Turning Point USA at Troy President Caitlyn Harris spoke about the assassination and Kirk’s killer, Tyler Robinson.
“The tragedy of Charlie’s life being taken from us so suddenly is painful beyond words,” Harris said. “We must also acknowledge the harder part. We must pray for Tyler Robinson and his family, too. His actions brought us this tragedy, and we are left with anger, grief, and so many questions.
“Robinson will have to answer the law for his actions and to the Lord on his judgement day. Even so, the gospel reminds us that God’s love reaches every soul.”
The service included scripture readings and prayers for Kirk’s family. Troy Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins also spoke during the service.

“Charlie Kirk was a unique young man,” Hawkins said. “At such a young age, he had such profound influence on America. I’m grateful that he lived, I’m not grateful that we lost him. I am grateful that this is not the end of what he stood for.
America’s a great country and I think we’ve been reminded of so much of what we sometimes take for granted.”
Harris also spoke about salvation and condemned violence in relation to Kirk’s death.
“Jesus didn’t just die for me, for you, for Charlie, he died for everybody,” Harris said. “That’s not limited to a political party or a single person. Let us pray for his family as they endure this storm that they’re going through. Let us guard our hearts from turning pain into hatred.
“Accountability will come, but harassment towards anyone is not the answer. We know that Charlie would not have wanted that.”
Harris said Turning Point at Troy will start holding meetings in the near future. Harris also said the meetings will be open to all Troy students, not just members of Turning Point USA at Troy.
