Troy announces changes to tuition and fee structure

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — The Troy University Board of Trustees has approved updates to the university’s tuition and fee structure that will take effect beginning with the Fall 2026 semester.

Why is TROY making this change?

In recent years, TROY bundled tuition and most fees into a single price to make costs easier to understand. While that approach simplified billing, it also made it harder for students and families to compare TROY’s tuition rates with tuition at other universities.

The new structure unbundles the tuition rate and fees, allowing families to better understand how costs are calculated.

What’s changing?

Beginning Fall 2026:

  • Undergraduate tuition will be $382 per credit hour, whether courses are taken in-class or online.
  • general fee of $50 per credit hour will apply to all undergraduate courses. This fee supports campus services such as athletics, technology, instructional facilities, and recreation facilities. Does not apply to Dual Enrollment courses.
  • Program fees will be added to most courses across undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs.          •  Program fees start at $24 per credit hour
              •  Fees vary by college and program based on instructional and
                 delivery costs
              •  Dual enrollment, orientation, and undergraduate leadership
courses are exempt from program fees

What is not changing?

  • Graduate tuition will remain $475 per credit hour
  • Doctoral tuition will remain $550 per credit hour

What does this mean for students and families?

While bills will look different, the updated structure provides:

  • Clear separation of tuition and fees
  • More accurate comparisons with other universities
  • Better alignment between program costs and delivery methods
