TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — The International Arts Center (IAC) is celebrating several artists whose work is currently on display.
Thursday night, the IAC held an artist reception for the works of Mike Howard, as well as two previous resident artists.
The works were donated by Howard and were held at Troy’s Phenix City campus before being displayed on the main campus.
“Mike Howard has donated a very large body of work to us,” Carrie Jaxon, Director and Curator of the IAC said. “We will also be having his artwork show up in different parts of campus, and we are fortunate that he has entrusted us with such a large donation.”

Two previous resident artists, Jennifer McCohnell and Douglas Pierre Baulos, were also excited to have works shown off at the university.
“In many ways, the department of art and design here at troy are my people,” McCohnell explained. “It’s really wonderful for me to return to a community that feels like home in that way. Not necessarily because of troy university, but because of the people that are in the art and design department.”
“I don’t know if people realize, but there is no other artist residency in Alabama quite like this,” Baulos said. “It’s fully funded. Three of the pieces I made during my residency were over 20 feet long, so I don’t have the time normally to work at that scale.”
Howard’s artworks will be displayed at the IAC until April 30. Howard’s artworks are currently being displayed in the Foyer Gallery and the previous resident artists’ works are displayed in the Huo Bao Zhu Gallery.
