Students and first responders climb steps in Veterans Memorial Stadium to honor 9/11 victims

On the 21st anniversary of the September 11th attacks, Troy University’s Air Force ROTC joined forces with local first responders to honor those who lost their lives in the World Trade Center Attacks.

They climbed the steps of Veterans Memorial Stadium in tribute to the steps climbed in the World Trade Center by first responders on September 11th.

“We do it to pay our respects because it was took a lot of bravery and courage to do what they did,” says TROY ROTC Cadet Brendan Carney. “So doing this helps us pay our respects to them.”

Students and Troy first responders gathered at Veterans Memorial Stadium to climb 110 flights of stairs simulating the steps firefighters made to rescue survivors from the Twin Towers a total of 343 fighters lost their lives during the attacks.
