Troy University Jazz Ensemble performs first concert of the semester

Tuesday night the Troy University Jazz Ensemble held their first performance of the Year.

Claudia Crosby theater was full of friends and family who came to support the band.

Dr Dave Camwell directed the band in many jazz arrangements for the show.

“This is the Jazz Band’s first performance of the semester,” says Camwell. “We’ve been going since school started so about five weeks or so and we have typically two or three performances per semester and so this is the first one of this Academic Year in front of lots of people.”

Performance pieces included, “Pontio” arranged by Eric Richards, “Samba Para Minha” by Mike Tamaro and “Tank” by Yoko Kano from the TV show Cowboy Bebop.

“We played an interesting mix of tunes,” says Camwell. “We played some latin tunes, a tune for Cowboy Bebop, which was pretty fun.”
