Troy Football loses Battle for the Belt to South Alabama

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — After six long years of glory against the South Alabama Jaguars, Troy Football fell to the Jaguars during Tuesday night’s Battle for the Belt.

The Trojans lost the game by a score of 25-10.

“I thought the first drive went well,” said Matthew Caldwell, one of the three Trojan quarterbacks that has seen action this season. “Point blank period, I just sucked for the rest of the game.”

Although the Trojans struggled offensively, with both quarterbacks throwing interceptions, the Trojan defense played its best game yet.

“Coming into this game we knew that we had to contain the quarterback and if we did that it would make the game a lot easier,” said Kam Curry, a defensive tackle for the men of Troy. “The game plan we had was good we just had to execute.”

The Trojans are back in action Saturday, Oct. 26 when they head to Jonesboro, Arkansas to take on the Arkansas State Red Wolves.

“We’ll get better this better this week, try to keep some of those points down, and do what we can do,” Curry said.

Keep in mind the Trojans are dealing with a plethora of injuries including starting quarterback Goose Crowder and defensive lineman Luis Medina.
