Food, fun and frights come to life during TROYAPALOOZA

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Things were a little spooky at the 2025 annual TROYAPALOOZA.

Students lined up for free food, live music, and a chance to show off their Halloween costumes.

“This is honestly one of my favorite events because it’s always around Halloween time,” said Riley Mattos, a sophomore sociology major. “You always get to see all sorts of peoples costumes before Halloween, and it’s just a ton of fun getting to listen to such great music.”

From hotdogs and hamburgers to funnel cakes and fried Oreos, there were plenty of treats to go around. However, not everyone was there for the food.

“I’m actually dressed as a like medieval ranger sort of thing from an old book I used to read called rangers apprentice,” Mattos said.

The costume contest brought out a variety of costumes from the likes of superheroes to spooky skeletons- and plenty of fright in between. However, the real treat of the night was not candy or costumes, it was POPulus taking center stage.

“Everybody here is just so supportive,” said Katie Kinsey, a POPulus vocalist. “I get out there and I perform my original and nobody knew it, but everybody was cheering and I just love how interactive and energetic and supportive everybody is here.”

TROYAPALOOZA was created in 2021 by the International Arts Center.
