Two Brothers, One Dream: Meet the dynamic duo Cooper and Cobi Campbell

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — For most siblings, playing together in college is a dream. For Cooper and Cobi Campbell, it’s a reality.

“We never really thought we would both be able to play together,” Cooper said. “We talked about it as we got closer to college sometimes and we were actually talking about dropping down a level to go to a division two school so we could play together.

“After that summer we both got the opportunity to play here. It’s like almost so far fetched that you don’t think it is really going to happen,” Cobi said. “But you know here we are.”

The Campbells were a package deal for the Trojans, in addition to a new assistant coach who just so happens to be their dad, Scott Campbell.

“Its been really cool having our dad coach us here,” Cooper said. “We grew up playing for him so its weird having him here.

“It’s like two worlds colliding. But then the other cool part is our family lives here now.

“Now we get to see our mom and our sister every day and we get to go watch our sisters high school games.”

This is year two of play together for the Campbells, as an injury and a full rotation kept the brother from taking the court together last year.

“Me going through that and then being able to be here for his freshman year, I have some experience with it and helping him through some stuff because it is hard being a freshman,” said Cobi.

The brothers aren’t only supporting each other on the hardwood, that energy continues at home.

“I don’t really get lonely because we live together which helps a lot there so many ups and downs through the season so last year even when he was injured he was almost my counselor through the season to make sure I was okay and I was kind of was the same thing for him,” said Cooper.

Thanks to the Campbells, when Troy basketball players say they’re like a family, they mean it.
