Men’s basketball team talks high expectations heading into new season

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Troy Men’s Basketball is entering the 2024-25 season with high hopes and high expectations.

Last year they won 20 games, setting the bar high for this season. Part of last year’s success was due to preseason All-Sunbelt First Team member Myles Rigsby and Second Team Member Tayton Conerway.

“It’s honestly a blessing just to receive that kind of accolade from the SBC, just using that as momentum to keep going forward and keep working hard to carry it on into the season,” forward Myles Rigsby said.

Although the team saw success last season, it refuses to become complacent.

“Just don’t take the easy way out, sometimes it’s going to be tough and if you can get through that tough part it’s going to make you tougher as a person,” Conerway explained. “If you take the elevator, the easy way up you don’t really learn nothing, you don’t get the struggle.”

Another strength for this year’s team? The team is largely made of returning players.

“We’ve had a great summer, great fall up to this point,” said head coach Scott Cross. “We’ve had so many returners on the team this year, I feel like we’re a lot further along than we have been in years past. Just having those 11 guys makes everything so much easier, the returners know what we expect from them.”

With 16 home games this season, the team hopes the Trojan Faithful stand behind them.
