Director Troy Football named SBC Video Coordinator of the Year

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Recently, the face behind Troy Football Video received an award that earned recognition for his work behind the camera.

Sports production is a job that handles behind-the-scenes for sporting events. However, that action doesn’t go unnoticed.

Director of Troy Football Video Aaron Sisk earned the Sun Belt Conference Video Coordinator of the Year Award.

“Getting that honor, that award from people in our conference who see what I’m doing and know they’re doing a good job, and I’m going above and beyond them, makes me feel pretty good,” Sisk said. “It’s very honoring, humbling and just makes me want to push that much harder to continue to grow here at Troy and push our department more.”

Before coming to Troy in the spring of 2022, Sisk gained experience working in sports production with North Dakota State, the University of Arkansas and the Miami Dolphins.

“I think it’s just gaining the experience of different types of levels,” Sisk said. “It’s also not only seeing different levels of how they do things, but seeing the different levels of technology and how you can do things.

“It’s seeing how things should be run compared to how, at a smaller program with less money, you kind of just get by and kind of do things. And with that, it’s then kind of piecing things together and thinking what can I do to push things here, to kind of move Troy more towards a bigger school type of budget, and a way of operating.”

During his time working with Troy Football, Sisk has handled all things technology. Sisk also manages the student assistants in Troy Football Video, providing opportunities for them to operate the cameras on their own.

“It’s definitely rewarding seeing and bringing in new students and just seeing them grow professionally, and then also maturing and seeing their progression as a person, in the profession and choosing that maybe this is something that they do want to do,” Sisk said. “It’s very rewarding seeing their growth like that.

“Also having a fun environment, too, because I don’t want them to just feel like they’re coming in, grabbing their camera, shooting practice and leaving. I think I do a pretty good job of promoting department camaraderie.”

The award is given out by the Collegiate Sports Video Association (CSVA) and honors the top football video professionals in the Sun Belt Conference.

Sisk will receive this award at the CSVA Conference in Denver on May 20.
