MIAMA (TROJANVISION) — The World Cup has made its way back to the United states, and with it, are fans from all over the world are coming to watch their team duke it out for 90 minutes.

In Miami, 30,000 fans gathered for the FIFA Fan Festival in Bayfront Park. Included in this group of fans was Ruben Oakley, who traveled all the way from London to cheer on the England National Team. According to Oakley, his expectations of the United States have been better than he imagined.

“It’s been very good. The people are lovely, and, I mean, look at this atmosphere. It’s brilliant.”

Oakley isn’t the only foreign fan whose opinion of the US has changed thanks the World Cup. Many have taken to social media to voice their pleasant surprise and welcome from Americans. According to Oakley, the United States fans have seen depicted on social media platforms differs greatly from than the one they have been exploring. 

“The media paints a big impression that the U.S. is full of bad people, but since I’ve been here, everyone has offered to help, it’s been pretty good,” Oakley said.

As world travelers return home, many Americans hope news travels fast about the United States’ hospitality, respect and unity.
