Troy predicted to win first game of season against Sam Houston, 16-7

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Troy won its first EA Sports College Football 27 simulation of the year, 16-7, against Sam Houston.

Running back Gavin Griffin led the Trojans with 87 yards on 15 attempts while also scoring the lone touchdown for Troy. His performance was good enough to earn the Player of the Game award. The other nine points were earned through field goals, as Troy was stopped multiple times by the Sam Houston defense in the red zone.

Quarterback Goose Crowder had 12 completed passes on 16 attempts, throwing for 143 yards. Three wide receivers would pull in multiple completions for Troy, with Howard Kitchen (5), Jackson Worley (3), and Mojo Dortch (3) combining for 100 yards each.

The Bearkats started the game off strong with quarterback Landyn Locke connecting with wide receiver Chris Reed for a 65-yard touchdown. However, Sam Houston could not replicate the first drive success, as they would be forced to punt twice and would turn the ball over once while going for it on 4th down late in the game.

The Trojans and Bearkats face off in real life Saturday at 6 in Veterans Memorial Stadium.
