TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — The Perfect Game’s Top 500 Fresh Arrivals on Campus features some new Trojans from Troy Baseball.
With Troy Baseball set to start its season on Friday, Oct. 18, fans can expect to see a few new faces on the diamond. Infielder Peryn Bland is one of those Trojans and was ranked 314 in Perfect Game’s Top 500 Fresh Arrivals on Campus.
“It’s been a great experience so far and I am really enjoying my time,” Bland said. “Hanging out with my teammates and just playing the game while we come out here to practice every day has all been a good time so far.”
Bland is a freshman from Thompson High School in Alabaster. During his senior year, the infielder was named to the 7A All-State Second Team and batted 343.
“We have multiple kids from Northwest, Florida and then we have team players that have already been on the team,” Bland said. “It’s like now we are all just merging together as one team. I’m just looking forward to playing and having fun with my team.”
Bland was named to the Birmingham Area Terrific 20 in back-to-back seasons to finish his career at Thompson. Number 13 on the diamond plans to continue working on his craft as the fall season begins.
“I’m pretty much used to it now, since I’ve been playing games since I was little,” Bland said. “It’s just coming out here, playing and having fun with everybody that I know.”
Another newcomer who made the list is outfielder Drake McBride, who ranked 327. McBride is also a freshman from Thompson high school.
Bland, along with his teammates, will host Northwest Florida State Friday, Oct. 18. This will be the first game of the fall season.
