TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Members of Troy University’s fraternities and sororities continued a Homecoming Week tradition with this year’s dance competition.
Each group in the competition was tasked choreographing and performing a dance.
“This event is a great way for everyone in the community to get involved,” said Elijah Turman, a junior Homecoming Committee member. “It’s homecoming week and everyone wants to have a good time. This is also a good opportunity for students to engage in a friendly competition.”
Throughout the night, Interfraternity and Panhellenic members danced to a range of songs and artists. From Brittney Spears and Ariana Grande to Nelly and Usher, dancers gave it their all as members of the audience cheered for their favorite group.
“I really enjoyed watching the dance-off,” said Olivia Giddens, a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. “It was fun getting to see other groups perform too. I know that our girls worked hard and I’m very proud of the show they put on. They absolutely did amazing.”

For freshman Jack Paepcke, Monday’s dance battle marked one of his first chances to represent his fraternity, Alpha Tau Omega.
“I was able to grow closer to the guys in my pledge class,” Paepcke said. “Getting ready for all of this was a challenge, preparation was stressful, but it was worth it in the end. I felt like we performed well. The biggest thing was that we had fun doing it and that’s all it really matters.”
The winner of the competition will be announced Saturday morning during the homecoming parade in Troy’s downtown square.
