TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Have you noticed Christmas seems to come earlier each year? Many people have already started to celebrate Christmas festivities, despite it still being the fall season.
One Troy student believes people should begin celebrating whenever they want to.
“I think whatever makes you happy honestly,” says troy student Abigail Hughes. “But for me, I start celebrating after Thanksgiving.”
Although Thanksgiving is a popular American tradition, more and more people are beginning to enjoy the Christmas spirit during the Autumn season.
“I think it’s because of the break and just the amount of community that people have with Christmas because not everyone celebrates Thanksgiving and of course not everyone celebrates Christmas,” said Troy student Carson Brady. “But I feel Christmas is a lot more widespread and there’s just way more celebration with it.”

Although some students are already starting to enjoy the Christmas festivities, one student thinks the climate conditions are not right for the holiday.
“I still feel like I’m owed my Autumn,” said Troy student James McClure. “The leaves are still on the trees, it’s still blisteringly hot out here, and Thanksgiving hasn’t passed. I don’t think Christmas starts until after Thanksgiving.
“I remember growing up there were Thanksgiving decorations in stores, in Walmarts, in Targets as a kid. I feel like I see none of those anymore. We go straight from Halloween decoration to Christmas decorations. The Thanksgiving erasure irks me.”
Even though we are still in the early days of November, many Troy students have noticed the increase in Christmas spirit. Will this trend continue in the years to come? We will just have to wait and see.
