TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Months after a local animal rescue was contacted about a hoarding house in a rural Wiregrass community, work is still being done to rescue animals from the property.
After months of working in blazing heat, overpowering stench, and bug-infested woods, Troy Animal Rescue Project (TARP) officials are almost done with the hoarding house in the Jack community.
“From now, what we can tell, we have less than 10 dogs on property,” TARP Manager Kayleigh White said. “That’s just a rough estimate. It could be less than that. It’s just from what we are seeing. We are going to make sure all the dogs are off property.”

However, that goal comes with new challenges as TARP now has over 300 dogs at its center.
“Our biggest issue right now is dog food,” White explained. “We go through probably about give to 600 pounds of dog food a day. Just a pallet of that is about $900 to $1,000 from Tractor Supply. So imagine two to three grand a week just to buy dog food.”
Although monetary donations are always welcome, manpower is in equal need.
“We accept volunteers from 11 to three [p.m.]. You can contact our director or me. Our director’s phone number is on our Google website, and so you can just call her directly or text her.
