The Troy University campus buzzed with energy and excitement as O’s Cool Bike Foundation hosted its annual Bike Ride and Walk event, drawing a record-breaking crowd and raising significant funds for a meaningful cause.

This year’s event saw approximately 270 participants, marking a steady increase from previous years — 40 more than last year and nearly 90 more than the inaugural ride. “It keeps growing every year, which is always our goal,” said Dr. Heather Lewis, Co-Founder of the event and scholarship.

The day kicked off with a powerful moment as the 64-mile distance riders set off, signaling the official start of the event. “That marks the official start of the event for us and it shows all of the hard work and planning that goes into the event coming to fruition,” Dr. Lewis shared.

Among the many highlights was the Little T-Rex Ride, a crowd favorite that brought smiles to the faces of young riders and spectators alike. “I love watching the Little T-Rex Ride and seeing the joy on the kids’ faces as they make their laps around the quad,” she added.

Beyond the fun and fitness, the event had a deeper purpose. Through the collective efforts of participants, volunteers, and sponsors, the event raised $11,000 — enough to finalize the scholarship endowment supported by O’s Cool Bike Foundation.

Feedback from the community has been overwhelmingly positive. “Every year we try to add something new and we also correct on any issues or deficiencies that we may have experienced in past years,” said Dr. Lewis. “We want to ensure that everyone who participates in the ride has a fun and enjoyable experience with us.”
