Clarinet Day features multiple recitals, clarinet choir rehearsals and clinics from the guest artists.

Troy University’s John M. Long School of Music will host the 19th annual Clarinet Day on Saturday, March 28.

This year’s guest artists will include Eric Mandat from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Cecilia Kang from Indiana University, J. David Harris from the University of Illinois, Michael Rowlett from the University of Mississippi, Seungho Choi (Noted Pedagogue), Joshua Choi from the San Francisco Opera, TROY pianists Benjamin Crook and Yuecheng Lu, and Dr. Tim Phillips, who serves as the event organizer and Professor of Clarinet at TROY.

Dr. Phillips shared why Clarinet Day is his favorite day of the year.

“High school students rehearse and perform with our students in a big clarinet choir, world-renowned guest artists play recitals and teach master classes, and vendors are here for students to try clarinets and other products,” Dr. Phillips said. “It’s eye-opening for the students, and it’s always a re-energizing day for me. It always leaves me more inspired.”

Registration for Clarinet Day is $30 and includes lunch. Students interested in attending can register here. All questions can be directed to Dr. Phillips by emailing him at tphillips16791@troy.edu
